Aria, Rebuilt

New skills with their own books. Rune enchanting at your own bench. A crafting economy worth defending, and a wilderness that wakes up and comes looking for you.

Malevolent Eternal Checking…
Overview

Not a Re-skin. Our Own Build.

The short versionMalevolent Eternal

Malevolent Eternal is a custom mod set we write and maintain ourselves, built on top of Aria’s sandbox. Not a config tweak and not somebody else’s package — the systems below are ours, and they change every year the shard runs.

New combat skills, each with its own ability book. Rune enchanting at a bench you crafted. A crafting and harvesting economy that gives crafters something real to sell. World events that escalate until something old and unpleasant stands up. And a pile of rule changes that make Aria feel like our Aria.

Everything here is live on the shard unless it is marked Coming soon.

New skills

Five New Ways to Fight

Sorcery and Summoning are retired here. What replaced them are skills we wrote from scratch — each one with its own book of abilities you drag straight onto your hotbar, usable from your first point to your last.

Chivalry

Wisdom · live

For the player who wants to stand at the front of the line and drag everyone else home alive. Chivalry channels the favor of the gods into the fight: you hit harder against the unholy, and the people behind you stop dying.

  • Divine GuidanceSacred counsel steadies your hands — stamina comes back faster and your blows land truer.
  • Holy FireWrap the undead and the demonic in sanctified flame. The better your Chivalry, the longer it burns.
  • Protection of the GodsA divine surge hauls you back to full life. You are marked afterwards, and it takes a shield to carry that much salvation.
  • Guiding LightSpend your own blood to mend every ally around you — a real sacrifice, and it leaves you marked.
  • Stand Your GroundPlant your feet. Defence and block chance climb while you hold the line.
Rune enchanting

Three Sockets. Make Them Count.

Every rune stone carries one property — power, speed, leeching, protection, fortune. Bind up to three of them into a weapon, a piece of armor, a shield or jewelry at an enchanter’s table you crafted yourself.

Found, Not Bought

Rune stones turn up out in the world, in the places most people would rather not go. What you cannot use, somebody at the market badly wants — and the heavier the rune, the more enchanting skill it takes to bind it.

Second thoughts

Nothing Is Final

Built the wrong blade? Take it back to the table and pull the weave apart. Three sockets is the ceiling, so what goes in them is the whole decision.

Crafting & the economy

Somebody Has to Make It

Recipes, resources and merchants all got re-tuned together, so crafting feeds combat and combat feeds crafting instead of the two sitting in separate rooms.

The market

Crafters Are the Backbone

Enchanters need tables. Poisoners need brews. Everyone needs repairs and replacements. The gear that carries a group through the deep places comes off a player’s bench, not a vendor’s shelf.

Harvesting

New Veins in the Ground

Extra ore types went into the mining rotation, and the right gear improves what you pull out of a node. Wilderness digging pays better — because of course it does.

The bench

More Worth Making

Enchanting tables, barricades and fort walls for your plot, stone and wicker ware, statues and fine table settings, a light armor set cut from the grove, shields on the smithing menu, staves and wands from the scribe.

The towns

Merchants Worth the Walk

Every town and outpost was restocked, and a few specialists moved in: an alchemist who brews her own, a stylist selling magical hair dyes, and a retired pirate lord who deals in treasure maps.

World events

Something Down There Wakes Up

The Awakening system turns a whole region into a slow-burning siege. Every stage you clear wakes the next one — and the fight only ends when whatever has been sleeping at the bottom of it decides to stand up.

The Great Tree

The Grove Wakes

The old tree in the wood has had enough of visitors. What comes out of the roots is not a normal night in the forest.

The Dragon’s Den

Something Older Than the Sand

Out in the barrens, the den answers in stages — and the last stage has wings.

The Frozen Tundra

The Cold Has Company

The tundra has its own awakening, and it is no kinder for being quiet about it.

Tasks

The Town Has Work

Named townsfolk in Eldeir, Helm, Valus and Pyros’ Landing hand out repeatable tasks: hunt down the lord of a camp, thin out what is climbing out of the corruption, gather what the village alchemist is short of. Do the small jobs well and the serious ones open up.

Eldeir Village

The Front Line

Eldeir sits closest to what the corruption has been doing to the Upper Plains, and the village asks accordingly. There is also an old alchemist there who will trade knowledge for legwork.

Helm

Miners’ Country

Helm looks after the mines and the roads to them, which mostly means someone has to go and have a word with whatever moved in.

The corruption

Cleansing Work

The longer task lines send you down into the corruption and ask you to keep going after the point most people turn around.

Tasks chain and they cool down, so they stay a reason to go out rather than something to grind flat.

The shard rules

How Aria Runs Here

The rules underneath the game were rewritten too. Small things, but they are the difference between somebody else’s server and ours.

A 700-point character

A wider skill cap than the stock game, so a build can be two things at once without being useless at both.

Seven ways in

Start in a proper town, or start at a neutral outpost in the wilderness with no guards and no excuses.

Housing without the bill

Plots run from generous to very large, and we switched the tax man off. Build it and it stays yours.

Long nights

Daylight is the short half of the day here. Night runs twice as long, and the world behaves differently in it.

Stats that matter

How much punishment you can take is built out of the stats you actually trained. No free tanks.

More than one character

Room for a stable of characters on the account, so the crafter and the killer do not have to be the same person.

Tuned region by region

Resources, camps, fishing and density are set per region, so the Frozen Tundra does not play like the Upper Plains.

No hand-holding

The tutorial track is off and the delete timer is short. Make the character you actually want.

Quality of life

The Small Mercies

None of this shows up in a trailer. All of it shows up in your first week.

Small merciesDay one
  • Books, not guessworkEvery custom skill opens its own ability book or spellbook — read what it does, then drag it straight to your hotbar.
  • Tooltips that tell youWeapons list their primary and secondary attacks, and enchanted gear reads out what is actually on it.
  • Look the partMore faces, hair and beards at character creation, and a stylist in town selling magical dyes when you get bored of it.
  • Room to settleBigger plot limits, no tax, and enough storage rules to make a house worth owning.
  • Your own rosterCheck your character slots with a command instead of guessing at the login screen.
  • Somebody to teach youThe new skills have trainers out in the world, so you are never stuck at the bottom of one with nobody to learn from.

Still in the Forge

Two new schools are already written and running behind the curtain. They go live when they are worth your time, not before.

Shadowmancy

Chants and rituals for players who would rather bargain than pray. Written, running internally, and coming to the shard when it is ready.

Nature Magic

A full spell school fueled by rage — bank it, spend it, and every spell you cast gets bigger for it. In testing now.

And after that

Whatever Comes Next

We write the mods ourselves, so the list never stops moving. New awakenings, more for the crafters, and the systems the shard asks for.
